Dell's India support centre expands services

BANGALORE: Dell International Services India, the global support arm of Dell operating out of Whitefield, Bangalore, has added voice support to countries like United Kingdom and Ireland. Earlier, the company was supporting the customers in these countries through e-mail.

Presently, Dell offers technical support, both voice and mail based, to customers in six countries, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, United Kingdom and Americas-US and Canada. "We are growing and will soon add up all English speaking countries to offer our support services. Other languages are certainly not in our plan to offer support services. We have regional offices catering to language specific support," said Dell International Services India, newly appointed Vice President, Mohan S

In a written communication to the media, Dell Chairman and CEO, Michael Dell, said, "India is one of the largest growing markets in the world and we are confident that India can partner us as we move forward in our efforts to build global services capabilities in realising our vision of `call anywhere, resolution anywhere’."



The center presently boasts of over 1000 people for both support and development activities. It expects to grow further this year. Numbers were not disclosed in view of the forthcoming results for the quarter.

The center plans to scale up its services by offering business to business trading, system management and suite of software offering in association with companies like Oracle and Red Hat for its server and storage products. The center is also catering to Dell for its internal IT needs.



"We are making efforts to garner a significant market share in India. WTO is a major boost for and we are very bullish about the local market," added Mohan.
