Day 2: NIIT acquires US-based CognitiveArts

MUMBAI: NIIT has announced its acquisition of CognitiveArts, a Custom Knowledge Solutions company. CognitiveArts was formed in 1994 as a commercial spin-off of the Northwestern University and benefited from the multimillion dollar investments in cognitive research by major corporate and government sponsors. NIIT Technologies, the software business of NIIT, is steadily building its Global Knowledge Solutions Practice.

"This acquisition is a key element of our strategy to address the attractive US corporate Knowledge Solutions market", said Mr. Arvind Thakur, President of NIIT Technologies. "Corporate America is increasingly looking for complete solutions spanning consulting, design and development of Knowledge Solutions."

CognitiveArts will enable NIIT Technologies to rapidly increase its pace of growth in the US Knowledge Solutions market and position us with unique strengths in the global market,'' he added.

CognitiveArts is well known for designing and delivering simulation based Knowledge Solutions for many Fortune 500 companies. The acquisition adds to NIIT Technologies an experienced consulting team of around 40 professionals. NIIT Technologies will also benefit from the strong brand presence of CognitiveArts in the US and its access to Fortune 500 customers.
