Shivakumar joined Nokia in 2006, and was elevated to global role in 2011. With Windows-based Lumia, the company, of late, has been on a revival path.

Chris Weber, executive vice president (EVP) for sales and marketing at Nokia said that Shivakumar has been playing an integral role since 2006 for Nokia's growth in India and beyond.

"His personal convictions on the importance of leadership have resonated throughout the company, and he has sponsored many leadership programs throughout the region," he said.

"On behalf of Nokia, I thank Shiv for his contributions, and wish him all the best in the future. He will stay with us in a consultancy role until June-end," said Weber in his statement.

In the meanwhile, the Finnish mobile device maker, reiterating its longer-term financial targets, has issued a statement to stock exchange, as a part of 'Nokia in 2012' annual report. It includes a review by the Board of Directors and the audited annual accounts.
