CSI — Nihilent announces e-Governance Awards for 2012-13

VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA: The prestigious CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards instituted by the Computer Society of India's Special Interest Group on e-Governance and sponsored by Nihilent Technologies has, announced the Best e-Governance initiatives for the year 2012-2013.

The award, now into its second decade, is a gold standard for evaluating e-Governance projects in the country. The winners were honored at a grand ceremony at the 49th Annual Convention of CSI held in Visakhapatnam. Through out the journey, the mission of the awards has been to acknowledge and appreciate the valuable efforts in bringing good governance through utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

J. Satyanarayana, secretary, DeitY, Government of India was the chief guest for the awards function where initiatives of wide ranging geographical and functional diversity were recognised. For the first time, the highly celebrated knowledge sharing summit of CSI's SIGeGov formed a part of the awards.

The state of Himachal Pradesh has been conferred with the ‘Award of Excellence' among the states, while twelve projects from across the country bagged the Award. Initiatives like public service delivery, e-payment systems, supply chain and subsidy administration systems, automated driving test track, e-Office, inter-operable criminal justice system were commended for their clarity in vision and effective execution.

This year also includes ‘Appreciation for Sustenance' along with ‘Award of Appreciation' and ‘Award of Recognition' in the other categories. The Appreciation for Sustenance award is given to projects that were recognized earlier as well, and which have continued to make a difference to the users over the years.

The award this time was bagged by Municipal Corp. of New Delhi for Property Tax Online Self-Assessment, Digital Document Filing System in Kerala, e-Gram Vishwagram Gujarat, Workflow System for Paperless admissions to AICTE approved courses in Haryana, and e-Procurement Chandigarh.
