CSI-Nihilent announces e-Governance Awards for 2011-12

NEW DELHI, INDIA: CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards instituted by the Computer Society of India's Special Interest Group on e-Governance and sponsored by Nihilent technologies today announced the Best e-Governance initiatives for the year 2011-2012, said a press release. The winners were honored at a grand ceremony at the 47th Annual Convention of CSI held in Kolkata.

The state of Bihar was conferred with the 'Award of Excellence' for the State category. Passport Seva Project by Ministry of External Affairs - Government of India was awarded 'Award of Excellence' in 'Projects Category - Government of India' while 'Ports & Transport Department', Government of Gujarat has received 'Award of Excellence' in Department Category.

Centralized Online Real-time Electronic (CORE) PDS by Government of Chhattisgarh has received joint award with Government of Gujarat for its initiative on 'Using Technology for strengthening Targeted Public Distribution System' for e-Governance projects in 'Government to Citizen'category. Other initiatives like 'eUparjan' by Civil Supplies Department - Government of Madhya Pradesh, ‘Manava Sampada' by Government of Himachal Pradesh and ‘Poll Monitoring System' by Government of Goa; have won awards in Government to Business, Government to Employee and Government to Government categories respectively.

Elaborating on the awards this year, Surendra Kapoor, Convener of the Awards 2010-11, said, ''We are extremely delighted to be presenting the tenth year of CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards this year. On this occasion, I would like to congratulate all the winners and appreciate their efforts towards effectively using Information and Communication technology for good governance.''

Speaking on the occassion, Rajat Chauhan - VP Sales and Marketing, Nihilent, said, ''We congratulate all the winners as well as other participants who are continuously striving to do better for transparent and efficient governance in the country''.
