OTTAWA: Corel Corp. is weeks away from selling its desktop Linux computer
operating system business for $5 million to New York-based Linux Global
Partners, a source close to the deal told Reuters on Tuesday.
Under the arrangement, Corel will get a 20 per cent stake in the Linux
business and keep its Linux software products, the source said.
Linux is an alternative computer operating system to Microsoft Corp.'s
market-dominating Windows.
Corel announced a new battle plan for growth and profit on Tuesday and said
only that it had plans to spin off the unit.
