Continental sets up technical center in Bangalore

BANGALORE, INDIA: Continental, a provider in automotive products,on Wednesday announced that it has officially launched its new technical center India facility at Bommanahalli Bangalore.

The company's technical center India develops automotive technology and provides software services for Continentals Automotive Group, said a press release.

Now the center is further expanding its Indian operations by establishing a captive development center in Bangalore, it added.

Dr. Gunnar Juergens, head of the Technical Center India, said, “The approach consists of a captive development center of Continental and Offshore Development Centers(ODC) which are operated by our engineering partners. By working with partners we acknowledge the fact that India has greaten engineering talent and trusted experience in managing and developing world-class engineering.”

He further said that their joint approach with the partners has been very successful and has built up a high level of acceptance and trust inside Continental, worldwide.

Since 2006, the technical center India has partnered with Siemens Information Systems Limited (SISL), KPIT Cummins Infosystems Limited (KPIT), and WIPRO Limited for developing and supporting multiple automotive engineering projects for its global customers at Continental.

It employs about 600 engineers and aims to grow by 20 per cent year on year, said the release.

Dr. Markus Distelhoff, managing director, Continental Automotive Components (India) Pvt. Ltd., said, “With the opening of the Technical Center, we achieved another milestone in the history of Continental India. Globally, Continental India is recognized not only for its manufacturing capabilities but also for its development and engineering services.”

He added that the technical center India would bring home rich experience of working on innovative technology for advanced markets and enables their engineers to localize technology for emerging markets at affordable prices.
