Shield against dangerous websites

McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus shields computers from interaction with risky sites by checking links in e-mail and instant messages.

McAfee has launched McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus, a web safety tool designed to shield consumers' computers from dangerous Web sites encountered while browsing, searching, instant messaging or e-mailing.

McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus takes McAfee SiteAdvisor from a helpful guide to enforce SiteAdvisor's safety ratings and shielding computers from interaction with risky sites by checking links in e-mail and instant messages thereby preventing users from navigating to risky sites and by adding advanced phishing site detection.

McAfee SiteAdvisor, available as a free tool, tested more than 95 percent of the trafficked Web for spyware, adware, spam, browser attacks and online scams. These test results are used to develop site ratings, which are communicated to end-users via intuitive red, yellow and green icons. More than 250 million times each day, consumers use these ratings to advise them about which sites are safe and which are not.

Consumers may use McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus to complement their existing McAfee products, with non-McAfee security products, or as a stand-alone solution.

McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus Key features: Protected Mode: Protected Mode enforces McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus' safety ratings by redirecting consumers to a safe page any time their computer is about to interact with a risky site, whether through searching, browsing, instant messaging or e-mailing. Protected Mode is password protected, enabling parents or other computer administrators to control this feature. Link Checker: McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus checks links embedded in e-mail and instant messages, warning consumers before they make a bad click decision. Advanced Phishing Detection: McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus combines advanced, real-time "phishing" detection with its site database to detect and provide early warnings against scam sites that can compromise consumers' identities. McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus supports a broad range of instant messaging and e- mail platforms including Yahoo! Messenger (Y!M), Windows Live Messenger (MSM), Google Talk, Outlook, Outlook Express, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Microsoft Live Mail (Hotmail) and Gmail. Support for AOL Instant Messenger AIM) and AOL Mail is under development.

The product is available as a free trial and is tagged at $24.99 for a single computer license and $49.99 for a 3-computer family pack.
