IBM's Palmisano wins Nasscom Leadership Award
Third Annual Nasscom Global Leadership Awards also features Amartya Sen, Patrick Snowball of Aviva
BANGALORE: Samuel J Palmisano, chief executive officer, IBM Corporation, has won the Nasscom Business Leadership Award.

Nasscom said in a statement today that it recognized Palmisano for sustaining the growth, innovation and momentum of IBM.

Patrick Snowball, group executive director, Aviva Plc received the Innovative Business Award for leading his company within the global insurance vertical.

Nobel laureate Amartya Kumar Sen pocketed the Nasscom Global Indian Award for his service in the areas of human development theory, welfare economics, the underlying mechanisms of poverty and political liberalism.

Union minister for Science, Technology and Ocean Development Kapil Sibal will felicitate the winners in Mumbai on the sidelines of the Nasscom Leadership Forum.

The Global Leadership Awards recognize the work of individuals, who have blended vision, innovation, business acuity, thought leadership and commitment to IT deployment, to give their organizations an unchallenged competitive edge within their domains.

“Through these Awards, the Indian IT industry and Nasscom salute those individuals whose organizations have made a difference to the Indian economy and helped change the lives of over one billion Indians,” said Kiran Karnik, president, Nasscom.

Past recipients of the award include Carly Fiorina (HP), Craig Barrett (Intel), Masamoto Yashiro (Shinsei Bank), Henrich Pierer (Siemens) and Stephen Green (HSBC Bank).
