MUMBAI: Their innovations ranged from unique business models, differentiation in client partnerships to innovations in products and business approach.
The seven finalists, namely Bharti-IBM, Evalueserve, HP Labs, Ittiam Systems, Kale Consultants, Monsoon Multimedia and Strand Life Sciences, were chosen out of 160 companies based in India by a Nasscom elite panel.
These companies today presented their products before a panel consisting of Steve Hamm, senior writer, BusinessWeek; MR Rangaswami, co-founder, sandhill.com; Lemuel Lasher, chief innovation officer and president, CSC and Navi Radjou, vice president, Forrester Research, among others.
Shekhar Borgaonkar, department director, affordable access devices, HP Labs India, showcased the “gesture keypad,” a pen based input device for phonetic scripts like Devanagari and Kannada. This invention intends to bridge the digital and language divide in India. This led panelist Steve Hamm to quip, “Three scientists worked on a product that can benefit 1.5 billion people.”
Bangalore-based Ittiam Systems, that has been making strides in the DSP media solutions space and Monsoon Multimedia with its video products and technologies, impressed with their products that have already won recognition globally.
The finalists will be felicitated by prime minister Manmohan Singh, towards the end of the Nasscom India Leadership Forum 2007 on Friday.
