From an Indian perspective, “much-awaited” is partially true in the case of Apple Inc’s iPhone 3G launch in select cities in the country on the intervening night of August 21-22. The launch failed to create the level of euphoria and excitement it had created elsewhere a month ago.

Some blame it on the Indian psyche, which keenly monitors a product for quality before reaching out for the wallet. The not-so-warm-welcome extended to the iPhone 3G reflects the fact that the resurgent India of the new millennium is yet to come into complete terms with the ‘use and throw’ attitude, or owning the latest gadget as and when one hits the market.

Besides the cost factor -- Rs 31,000 and Rs 36,100 respectively for the 8 GB and 16 GB models – Indians apparently have taken serious note of the reported glitches that bugs the iPhone.

There is, however, no denying the fact that the iPhone 3G is the hottest product that hit the mobile phone market in recent times. CyberMedia News takes a close look at the gadget even as many Indians expect a significant reduction in its price in the very immediate future.
