The ESW (Engg. Standard Work) software tool has three main objectives. First, to consolidate and store individual engineering design expertise and knowledge in an organizational repository so that it is not lost when an employee resigns or retires from the company. Second, to provide easy access to this repository to engineers working in any part of the world. Third, to help improve quality of design and reduce rework through the use of a standard design process. Work output is based on proven practices using analytical tools and workflow travels in a predetermined path and methods are codified in a set of web-based documents.
The “Engineering Standard Work (ESW) Software System" is a web-enabled application developed by Infotech that provides technical content and data to engineering users in support of the engineering design and development process. Major components in ESW are the work flow maps, tools and methods, design criteria, design standards, lessons learned and practitioner’s proficiency assessments.
