MUMBAI: Technology issues and petrochemicals major Reliance Industries led a rebound in Bombay shares early on Tuesday, as traders picked bargains after three straight days of losses, brokers said.
The 30-issue benchmark Bombay share index was up 0.16 percent at 3,053.64 points by 10:22 a.m. after sliding three percent over three days to a 3-½ month closing low on Monday.
Gainers outpaced losers 207 to 87 in brisk trade of 5.7 million shares.
The National exchange index rose 0.18 percent. Bellwether Infosys Technologies, the nation's No 2 software services exporter, gained 0.95 percent to Rs 4,076 and Satyam Computer Services, the fourth-biggest exporter, rose 0.82 percent to Rs 178.40.
Export-driven technology stocks were at the forefront of a recent sell-off on fears that an extended war in the Middle East could delay decision making by large corporates.
