BANGALORE: Phoenix-based utility company Pinnacle West Capital Corp. has chosen Wipro Technologies as their software development, maintenance and integration partner, as per an official statement from Wipro. The Indian software major will provide Information Technology services for Pinnacle West’s Customer Information Systems (CIS), which will create workflow efficiencies to enhance service to the company's more than 825,000 customers.

Pinnacle West’s major subsidiary Arizona Public Service Company (APS) generates, sells and delivers electricity and energy-related products and services to wholesale and retail customers in the western United States. Utility experts from Wipro will provide services related to business and systems development, including the development and maintenance of applications, their integration, testing and delivery.

As part of the deal, Wipro’s offshore development centers will be a virtual extension of Pinnacle West’s IT department and will provide the ability to build better and faster applications. "Innovative and cost-effective IT solutions and processes are an increasingly important aspect of creating value and competitive advantage in the utility industry", said Pinnacle West vice president Information Services Denny Brown.
