BANGALORE: Onward Novell, a joint venture between Onward Network Technologies and Novell Inc., is forging alliance with Indian System Integrators TCS, Wipro and MindTree. This exercise is part of its `Go to Markets' marketing initiative to push newly launched Netware 6.
Onward Novell has already partnered with Bangalore Labs and iLantas. These initiatives are part of the global partnership program under the e-business System Integrators (ESI) and Consulting System Integrators (CSI). The company has also launched its `One Net' initiative which allows organizations to implement networking solutions across its Internet, Intranet, Extranet and mobile devices applications.
Launched on September 18, Netware 6 allows Windows, Macintosh, Unix, Linux and Web based client workstations to connect to and store files and data on centrally managed servers, and storage area networks without Novell client software on the workstation. It can be plugged into existing networks integrating and empowering new services with minimal investments. As part of its launch promotion, Onward Novell is offering a one-year free upgrade of Netware 6 to its customers purchasing the currently available Netware 5.1.
Satyen H Parikh, Indian Subcontinent-Area Director, Onward Novell Software, said, "We are bullish about Netware 6 in India. The product opens up newer markets, which was applications specific earlier, and also offers a gamut of services in a single package to the SMEs. The product also offers a range of services which will find exception uses across all applications and operations."
Netware 6 give users the freedom to be mobile without giving up the advantages of office based network access. Netware WebAccess provides users access via a Web browser to files, printers, e-mail, calendar, corporate address book, etc., through a customizable portal, regardless of desktop operating system or device. Novell iFolder allows users to access their files across multiple networks and Internet enabled machines. iPrint, another feature, lets customers use a simple Web browser to find and install a printer and print via the Internet.
"Such applications are sure to attract customers in this connected environment. We are launching big promotional and marketing campaign that should see the product cruise in to the market. Partners and our channel network have been roped in to give the `Go to Markets' initiative that needed push," added Parikh.
