BANGALORE: US-based Continuous Computing Corporation (CCPU), a provider of hardware and software for telecom equipment manufacturers, plans to ramp up its development center here.
The center currently has 65 employees in Bangalore, who work on software development for the company's Trillium protocol and provide support for the company's global customers.
Mike Coward, co-founder and GM-platforms, told CyberMedia News that the company plans to double its existing headcount in the next 12 months. “We plan to invest $10 million for the next three years in addition to the $3 million we invested last year,” he said.
Apart from work on Trillium software, he said that the Indian team would also work on embedded software AND Trillium plus pre-integrated products.
Besides product development, Continuous Computing also plans to increase its services side of the business. “We do customer product development for some of our key customers. Apart from this, we have put in place a strategic plan to focus on professional services,” said Coward.
He added that telecom equipment vendors are looking to them to custom-build products owing to factors like reduced R&D budgets, time to market challenges and also to differentiate themselves from their competitors.
CCPU also provides customized solutions and applications around its products to suit the customer's requirements. While services constitute less than 10 percent of the company's revenues now, Coward hopes to double this business next year.
Besides focusing on product development and services, the company plans to tap the booming telecom market in India. CCPU also already got two customers-C-DOT and Bharti Telesoft.
CCPU caters to three market segments- wireless, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and is confident that their products would gain traction with Indian telcos' wanting to offer more specialized services to mobile subscribers.
“We provide the architecture needed for offering these value-added services. The demand for triple play is also set to grow,” said Pradeep Malhotra, VP and MD, Continuous Computing, India.
CCPU's customers include Cisco Systems, Nortel Networks, Intel, Agere Systems, Nokia, Alcatel, Lucent, HP, IBM and Toshiba.
