Sign MOU to encourage research in computer sciences and emerging technologies
MUMBAI: IBM and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop technology capabilities of common interest through collaborative research. IBM and IIT Bombay will jointly develop technologies and capabilities in areas like autonomic computing, grid computing, deep computing, databases, web services, network management and security amongst others. Under the umbrella of IBM's Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) program, the objective of this MOU is to equip technical talent at the grass root levels with greater understanding of emerging technologies. Prof Rangan Banerjee, associate dean (Research & Development), IIT Bombay, said, "Research is the backbone to develop technologies for the future. Corporate participation from IBM will provide us with a platform to, train and encourage research students and develop them into technically talented resources for the future." According to the MoU, IBM will sponsor Ph.D/ M Tech/MS(Res) students for their research work on the chosen themes of mutual collaborative interest, provide technology support that would enable students in their research project and collaborate on research program with chosen faculty. © CyberMedia News
