MUMBAI: Although game development is still in its nascent stages in India, gaming companies are going all out to explore possibilities overseas.
Dhruva Interactive, a game development company, is eyeing acquisitions in Eastern Europe and China.
This inorganic growth route would help the company to augment its production capacity. The company is also looking to quadruple its team size in the next couple of years.
According CEO of Dhruva Interative, Rajesh Rao, “We already have collaborations with several foreign companies and we are actively exploring non-linear growth opportunities in Eastern Europe and China.”
The company develops and publishes games for PCs, videogame consoles and mobile wireless devices. It is all set to release the Charlie Chaplin mobile content and is also planning to develop games and mobile content based on Bollywood franchises. All these mobile games are to be designed and developed in Bangalore.
Dhruva Interactive has a core team of about 60 people at present and is looking expand to 250 people within the next two to three years.
On the mobile gaming front, as the capabilities of the phones are evolving rapidly, Dhruva is geared up for launching 3D mobile games and including a tennis and Chaplin game.
The company is also working on third generation console games also. It is developing the first multiplayer 3D game for India named as 'Pool on the Net', which is in the beta stage currently.
The company is also involved in a foreign collaboration with UK based games company, The Project Zoo Ltd., that provides games consulting and project management services to the UK games industry.
Eric Mottet, co-founder of Infogrames Entertainment (now ATARI), is one of the key investors in Dhruva.
