SINGAPORE: Derek Williams, chairman of Oracle Asia Pacific and Japan named Brain Mitchell as senior vice president, to take over the day-to-day operations of Oracle Asia Pacific, excluding Japan.
This is the first change of leadership since fifteen years.
Commenting upon this new change of leadership, Williams, said, "We spent the last 15 years building an Asia Pacific and Japan business that generated $1.7 billion in revenue in fiscal 2005. I believe that our new management team has the experience and enthusiasm to build an even more successful business for Oracle in years to come."
Mitchell's new role as senior vice president, Oracle Asia Pacific, will extend his existing responsibilities in strategic acquisitions, business strategy and planning and management of Oracle country offices, to also directing day-to-day operations for the region.
"I'm taking over the leadership reins at an opportune time in the company's
history globally and in the region. Our management team, which averages more than 10 years of Oracle experience each, is well suited to pursue those opportunities," said Mitchell.
Mitchell previously held the position of managing director, Oracle Australia and New Zealand from December 2000-2004. He joined Oracle in January 1998 in the position of regional director of Sales and Marketing.
