BANGALORE: Akshaya Bhargava, Infosys Progeon's former CEO, has joined 3i, a British venture capital firm. His responsibilities include identifying investment opportunities and leveraging offshore BPO for 3i's portfolio companies. Citing personal reasons, Bhargava had quit Progeon in March 2006. He was associated with Progeon since early 2003. Bhargava had earlier spent 22 years with Citibank in a variety of senior positions in India, the Czech Republic and the UK before moving joining Progeon. 3i will focus initially on companies with minimum revenues of €100 million, mainly in the financial services sector in the UK, Germany, the US and India, reports said. Chris Rowlands, head of group markets, 3i, said, 'There are many exciting opportunities in the BPO market internationally. We are delighted that Akshaya has joined 3i to lead this new sector focus across our private equity business.' 3i focuses on buy-outs, growth capital and venture capital. The firm invests across Europe, in the US and in the Asia-Pacific region.
