HYDERABAD: SMSCountry, a Hyderabad-based two-way text messaging application developer, in December 2004, commercially launched a slew of mobile office tools that link the desktop to mobile phone for SMSing, no matter wherever you are in the world. The company also informed that these tools are approved and endorsed by Microsoft Corporation on its website.
SMSCountry MD Satya Kalyan Yerramsetti said, “This freely downloadable SMS-Mailbox tool seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Outlook and enables you to send messages to mobile handsets across the world using your desktop's outlook.”
Additional features include using contacts from Outlook's address book, and messaging multiple recipients at a time. The company has the capability to deliver to 489 networks spanning 182 countries. According to Yerramsetti, SMSCountry presently has around 6,700 paid users and the user base is growing at a rate of 20 percent.
“Registered users will be given a unique inbox name while the gateway number to which the recipients reply remains common for users across the world. Recipients thus reply typing the inbox name with space followed by text message. The inbox name helps in identifying to which user the message has to be sent,” explained Yerramsetti.
While paid users can pay online or purchase vouchers from any of the 600 retail outlets across the country, users replying back will be charged as per local SMS charges. "This is an economical way to interact with people abroad. Not both users need to have a PC to chat, they can now exchange messages in a simple yet at a rapid pace," informed Yerramsetti.
