Features: EMC Corp. has announced five new storage solutions targeted at midsize companies. EMC introduced the EMC CLARiiON CX3-10 UltraScale networked storage system, a new entry point into its market-leading series of full 4Gb/s storage arrays; new EMC RecoverPoint/SE software, an entry point for network-based asynchronous replication in mid-tier storage environments; and three solutions to help midsize businesses consolidate, back up, archive and protect their Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Oracle RAC 10g environments. Barbara Robidoux, EMC's vice president of Storage Product Marketing, said, "For many companies, Oracle and Microsoft applications are the heart of the business, and we are further helping them by combining the market-leading CLARiiON CX3 platform with fully validated, proven solutions and EMC blueprints that allow partners and customers to easily deploy an information infrastructure." EMC said in a statement that the new CLARiiON CX3-10 system can scale to 30TB of capacity. It features combined Fibre Channel and iSCSI connectivity within the same array, providing customers with maximum deployment flexibility and highly efficient storage consolidation. Customers deploying networked storage for the first time can use iSCSI for applications such as Microsoft Exchange and can use Fibre Channel for more bandwidth-intensive applications such as data warehouses built on Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. The CLARiiON CX3-10 FC/iSCSI system joins the CX3-20, CX3-40 and CX3-80 models in supporting all CLARiiON array-based software functionality, including data management, replication and mobility. The new EMC RecoverPoint/SE software is part of the RecoverPoint family and specifically designed for network-based replication between any two CLARiiON CX and/or CLARiiON CX3 UltraScale systems. This data protection solution provides customers with any point-in-time recovery of their data from events including database corruption, server failures, software errors, viruses, end-user errors and other events that can take down the operations of an entire data center or IT facility.
