CIOL:Sierra keyed up to push for Oracle AIA

HYDERABAD: The Oracle call has Sierra Atlantic enthused. The Hyderabad-based enterprise applications provider is all geared to explore opportunities thrown open by Oracle’s unveiling of the Applications Integration Architecture (AIA).

With a profound knowledge around Oracle applications and an industry-accepted expertise in process manufacturing, the company anticipates reaping a healthy business out of Oracle AIA.

To implement the new application, the company has an eye on customers from the healthcare and financial verticals besides its pet manufacturing clients.

Feroze Mohammed, the company’s senior vice president (Global Delivery), describes Oracle AIA as a big door opener for Sierra Atlantic. ‛‛We are working very closely with the product management group within Oracle, the fusion development group as well as the fusion product management team. We’ll take people from Oracle to some of our top customers and they in turn would take us to their customers where they are experimenting with the products. We’ll try to evangelize this product within our customer base,’’ said Mohammed.

As an Oracle AIA implementer, Sierra’s primary function would be to build additional process integration packs (PIPs). It is also looking to leverage on its existing IPs to build the PIPs faster. ‛‛We can build these PIPs as customized solutions or as our own IP and then get it branded by Oracle,’’ informed Mohammed.

Sierra has already starting working internally on its plans for AIA. Its advance technology is also working on the roadmap. ‛‛What we still need to do internally is to identify the priority PIPs and integration that we have to work on. We have to identify those things that are not on Oracle’s roadmap. We will complement to what Oracle does,’’ revealed Mohammed.

The Oracle AIA was formally announced at the Collaborate event on April 16. Provided by the Oracle fusion middle platform, AIA integrates all the Oracle offerings with extension to any third party application. Oracle has built the application on its open application group.

In order to implement AIA Oracle plans to rely heavily upon partners and system integrators.

Oracle is devising is an industry-standard common definition of the customer object for AIA. Integrators like Sierra Atlantic plan to come up with their own customer object for specific customers. ‛‛Because of our application network expertise, we can build the PIPs much faster. The core value of this integration is on the functional aspect,’’ added Mohammed.

‛‛This is a big initiative within Oracle. I think for a foreseeable future a lot of focus is going to be on this initiative and trying to build AIA into a robust platform. Customers are I think are warming up to it much more now,’’ concluded Mohammed.
