CIOL:HP intros new entry-class server

BANGALORE: HP today introduced a new rack-optimized unit - the Integrity rx2660 entry-class server and a new version of the HP-UX 11i operating system.

The server major said in a statement that its Integrity rx2660 is the first Integrity model of entry-class server that will handle robust application tier workloads and is versatile enough for porting, application serving, testing and development.

“The HP Integrity rx2660 server is designed to meet the growing needs of business applications to address demanding workloads for today and tomorrow”, said Kamal Dutta, country manager, Business Critical Systems, HP India. “Our latest server offerings and channel programs bring mission-critical virtualization to a broader range of customers in an affordable way. This is especially attractive to SMB customers looking for ultimate flexibility of choices along with a reliable computing environment at a cost effective price point.”

HP’s latest Integrity Server line makes virtualization easier to deploy with mainframe-class availability, the statement said.

Also, with the new Blade server, important applications, including business intelligence and data warehousing, are now simpler to secure and manage. The new HP Integrity BL860c Server Blade combines the flexibility of the HP BladeSystem c-Class infrastructure with the robustness of the HP-UX 11i operating environment and the dependability of HP Integrity Servers.

The new HP-UX 11i v3 operating system delivers the highest business value and lowest cost of ownership for enterprise UNIX. HP-UX11i v3 offers mission-critical virtualization capabilities, helping customers pool computing resources to increase server utilization and reduce costs, while improving performance and availability.

HP-UX 11i v3 is designed to effectively manage over 100 million zettabytes of storage, the statement added.
