BANGALORE: The United States Indian American Chamber of Commerce (USIACC) announced the launch of its India headquarters here today.
The Washington DC-based association works on accelerating trade and investment between India and the US. USIACC is expected to open offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai as well.
Addressing the media, Bharat Bhargava, national president, USIACC, said, “ Our aim is to understand the Indian point of view and maximize the business opportunity available in US and India. Small industries would also be given all the help to promote their business.”
Vivek Kulkarni, former IT secretary and chairman and CEO of B2K Corp. who was present on the occasion said, “Small companies needs to be encouraged to grow and this forum would give them the opportunity to grow and benefit by making contacts in the US.”
Further he added, “SEZ schemes have helped in promoting business but they need to find some other ways to help the small business to grow. The policy regulating SEZs needs to be changed so that the small and medium sized businesses can grow, otherwise it would be the big companies who would benefit.” He also said that the infrastructure is an issue, which needs to be addressed soon and said that though Hyderabad is getting quite aggressive, Bangalore continues to have advantage.
USIACC is going to have annual convention in Washington DC on October 11 and 12, 2006. The theme of the convention would be promoting trade and investment between India and the US.
