LONDON: Britain's Vodafone Group Plc plans to offer fixed-line telecoms services alongside its traditional mobile phone business, Vodafone chief executive Arun Sarin told a UK newspaper.
Vodafone was looking at offering broadband Internet and Internet voice (VoIP) over phone lines to compete with fixed-line rivals, Sarin said in an interview with The Business.
"The question is as the world evolves with services like VoIP and wi-fi and all that, should we expand the services our company provides?" Sarin was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
Sarin said Vodafone had no immediate plans to acquire fixed-line players such as BT Group Plc.
