BANGALORE: Openera Technologies Inc., a developer of IMS mobile client applications for fixed and mobile operators, today announced the commercial availability of its peer-to-peer video sharing application with integrated presence, enabling mobile phone users to talk with and view fellow callers simultaneously.
Openera's peer-to-peer Video Sharing (PPVS) is the newest addition to its suite of IMS mobile client applications, which partner Lucent Technologies is delivering to market as part of its IMS offering.
“The addition of Openera's Video Sharing client to Lucent's solution is one more example of Lucent's commitment to help service providers deliver personalized services to subscribers any time, anywhere,” said Sandip Mukerjee, vice president of Lucent's Applications Solutions Business Unit. “The more new services, such as video sharing, a carrier can offer on a greater number of IMS-enabled mobile devices, the more opportunity the service provider has to attract new customers and reduce churn with existing customers.
Openera's new PPVS application is an SIP-based multimedia service that allows IMS and 3G subscribers to launch a synchronous real-time audio and video session with fellow callers. This dynamic video sharing is powered by Openera's Active Phone Book, which, integrated with rich presence, provides users a new level of connectivity by informing them how and when they can reach and communicate with particular contacts.
The company said its APB enables users to integrate their disparate address book databases on their mobile phone, dynamically fusing together their personal and corporate contacts from multiple applications (voice, email and IM) into a single, common, centralized address book. This APB capability also enhances a phone's native address book by integrating it with rich presence, allowing users to know how and when they can communicate with others.
The APB is integrated across Openera's entire suite of mobile communications applications. End users can enjoy a new level of connectivity that enables them to check people's availability and connect to them via their preferred communications mode with the push of a button. Openera's IMS Mobile Client with APB makes possible the delivery of a growing number of multimedia IP communication services on mobile devices deployed in pre-IMS 2.5G GPRS/EDGE and EV-DO networks as well as true IMS networks built on 3G and/or WiFi standards.
Openera's APB serves as the launching pad to initiate a suite of peer-to-peer mobile services enabling users to communicate via Openera's new PPVS, Instant Messaging, Push-to-Talk-Over-Cellular and Direct Voice Mail. Operators leveraging Openera solutions can seamlessly deploy an integrated suite of real-time, peer-to-peer client-based mobile applications across a broad array of mobile endpoint devices including personal digital assistants (PDAs), advanced smart phones and feature phone platforms.
