MUMBAI: Lionbridge Technologies, a BPO company, would add another process, 'content development and localization service' to its portfolio.

The company has opened its Chennai center in May with around 200 employees in May this year, while its Mumbai facility has 1100 people. The company has carry out processes like IT application and maintenance, testing services in its Mumbai facility and mainframe and CAD/CAM applications in Chennai.

The company has been carrying out content development and localization service process from other global locations till now. Content localization contributes more than 50 percent to company's overall revenue.

Satish Maripuri, COO, Lionbridge Technologies said “Our India solution centers are among the fastest growing operations for Lionbridge and will be critical as we expand our application development and maintenance, testing, content development and localization service offerings in India.”

The company has over 550 customers worldwide for content localization. The process includes content translation in local language and publishing.

Lionbridge had completed the acquisition of Bowne Global Solutions last month, which was the direct competitor for the company as far as content publishing services are concerned.

The firm is planning to evolve the globalization industry in India with Mumbai and Chennai centers serving as a backbone for company's global operations. It plans to grow its India operations by expanding its delivery and sales teams for its global development and testing business worldwide.

Lionbridge is a $400 million global outsourcing organization and has around 4000 employees in more than 25 countries worldwide. The company provides global outsourcing services to approximately 600 clients each year in the technology, consumer products, life sciences, publishing, financial services, and retail industries. The company generated revenue to the tune of $30 million in India last year.
