NEW DELHI: Birlasoft Ltd will be recruiting 2000 technology professionals for the proposed three new development centers in the next 12 months, which would entail an investment of $20 million.
The first in the series, a 46,000-square-feet facility at Whitefield in Bangalore would be opened on September 30. The center will have 520 seats.
Another 600-seat facility will be operational in Hyderabad by February 2006. The third facility, with 600 seats, will be set up in Noida in May 2006.
Birlasoft aims to be a $250-million IT company by 2008.
Commenting on the expansion, Kamal Mansharamani, chief executive officer, Birlasoft, stated, “The expansion plans stem from our commitment to build Birlasoft into a major player in the IT services and solutions space. Our new centers will enable us to strengthen our position in the market. We are looking at further expansion in existing and new geographies.”
A C K Birla Group company, Birlasoft has 2600 employees and is spread over several overseas locations apart from three centers in India.
The center in Chennai also acts as the disaster recovery and business continuity site for the two centers in Noida. The company's headquarters is in New Jersey, USA.
The establishment of the three new centers is, in fact, in line with Birlasoft's robust growth plans. Around 1000 IT professionals have joined the company during the last 10 months.
The second phase of expansion, which would follow the launching of the three new facilities, envisages development of new facilities in Chennai, Bangalore and Noida.
