CHENNAI: Bangalore-based Progeon has bagged a $10 million per year outsourcing deal from the global distributor major Ingram Micro Inc, North America, for carrying out certain back-office administrative activities from India.
Progeon is expected to carry out administrative functions such as finance, inside sales and technical support on behalf of Ingram, NA. The deal, which was finalized recently, is expected to take-off by the end of this year and around 400 professionals are expected to be hired to carry out activities for Ingram Micro Inc, NA from India. Progeon is expected to undertake these functions for a span of five years.
In an e-mail interview with officials in Ingram Micro, NA it was informed that Ingram had decided to outsource certain activities from North America by the end of 2005 and had chosen India and Philippines for executing its activities. “In India, we have partnered with Progeon and over the next few months, we would conduct in-depth knowledge sharing and training sessions with Progeon team,” Ingram, NA spokesperson informed.
“Besides India, any outsourced job functions requiring telephone contact with customers of Ingram, NA will be handled by call centers in the Philippines,” the official added.
