NEW DELHI: BSNL has announced tariff cuts for its subscribers who access Cellone GPRS home portal. Announcing the cut, BSNL CMD Anil K Sinha said that from today there would be no activation charges for the Cellone GPRS home portal. Customers can get it activated for free just by sending an SMS “GPRS” to 3433.
He was speaking at the launch of the game 'Sarkar' on Cell One Galaxy, BSNL's GPRS portal, designed, powered and managed by wireless solution provider Mauj.
He added that the network has been designed to provide seamless data services on mobile through GPRS and EDGE technologies.
Presently from GPRS, users can connect their PC to mobile and surf Internet at high speed. This service is available starting with a rental plan of Rs 199 for post paid and Rs 10 per KBPD on prepaid. Sinha also announced that from today the monthly charge of Rs 199 is also being waived for post paid customers.
Sinha also informed that today Cell One has one crore subscribers on its network but we know that our market share is just over 25 percent. This makes our task a bigger one as it poses us a challenge not only to strive for more customers but also retain those in our network with us. BSNL expects to increase its subscriber base by 150 percent to 2.5 crore by December 2005.
