NEW DELHI: Zicom Electronic Security Systems has signed a strategic alliance with Belgium based company Bioptimo for selling, marketing and integrating the entire range of biometric system offered by the company. Bioptimo is a provider biometrics system and a value-added distributor and consultancy company, specialized in biometrics.

Biometric technologies can be defined as the best automated methods of identifying or authenticating the identity of a living person based on a physical or behavioral characteristic. Unique physical traits, such as fingerprints, iris scans, voice prints, faces, signatures or the geometry of the hand, can be used for the same.

Bioptimo is the world leader in iris recognition and has developed the very first fully portable hand-held Iris Enrollment and Recognition device (the "PIER"). According to the company, up to 250,000 individuals can be enrolled on the PIER quickly and easily, and the device can perform a "one to many" search of the database in less than 10 seconds.
