BANGALORE: Telecom Software solutions provider, Sasken Communication Technologies has been declared "the best company to work for" in India, by the 'Business Today- Mercer-TNS survey'. In a list dominated by India's biggest and best companies including Infosys and HDFC, Sasken has been rated as the No 1 Indian Employer, states a company press release.
The research, conducted by Mercer Human Resource Consulting an international HR consulting firm, has rated Sasken No. 1 on critical aspects of organizational success such as communication, culture and alignment between organizational objectives and individual aspirations. Sasken rates #1 in Employee Perception, HR Processes and HR Metrics. The rating is a powerful reflection of people management practices in an organization, according to the release.
"This rating further reinforces the people policies Sasken has set up and practiced in the last 17 years of operations and impacts our customers positively by allowing us to retain and attract the best talent in the industry" Says Rajiv Mody CEO Sasken Communication Technologies.
Sasken's decision to stay focussed on telecommunications and offer solutions instead of just products was one of the reasons for its posting better results every year, states the release. At the same time, the company is said to have initiated some of the most vibrant HR policies into practice, a factor that has culminated in it being voted as the most preferred company to work for.
Sasken works on the crucial issue of retention and bonding via the Organizational Development perspective and not just the HRD (Human Resource development) perspective. OD works only when an organization has deep-rooted and successfully operational HRD processes and policies. "At Sasken we begin by giving a realistic picture about the role and responsibility that a person would be fulfilling and strengthening the psychological contract via "Value Anchoring" and creating a "Trustworthy Environment," says Hari Iyer, Culture Office and VP-HR, Sasken Communication Technologies. "Interestingly we may be one of the few companies in India who practice a Zero monitoring environment" adds Hari.
According to the report, a strong market performance, sustained financial results and a commitment to sharing the gains by sustained investments in the development of employees is an inherent factor amongst the best companies to work for.
In an earlier Best Employer Survey (BES) conducted by Dataquest-IDC, Sasken had notched up the sixth position (over all) while surpassing industry leaders, in terms of other employee parameters. Sasken had scored a 100 per cent score in areas such as 'open policies and processes': 'open to ideas and suggestions' and 'positive work environment'. In areas such as company image, culture, job content, training, salary and compensation, appraisal systems, over all satisfaction, etc, the company's score is far above the industry averages.
