BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited, announced today that it has become a member of the EPCglobal Network, a joint venture between EAN International and the Uniform Code Council (UCC). Bullish about the growth of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, Wipro Technologies is the first, Indian software services company to enter this league.

EPCglobal is participating in the development of industry-driven standards for the Electronic Product Code (EPC) network to support the use of RFID in today’s fast-moving, information rich trading networks. The EPC Network is being touted as an enabling technology that can transform the global supply chain through a new, open global standard for real-time, automatic identification of items in the supply chain of any company, in any industry, anywhere in the world. The EPC Network is expected to make organizations more effective by enabling true visibility of information about items in the supply chain.
