BANGALORE: Software exports from India's Silicon Valley, Bangalore is poised to touch Rs 16,000 crore this fiscal as against Rs 13,000 crore posted last year.
At half year, a revenue of Rs 7,200 crore has been registered by the software companies in Bangalore, according to Software Technology Parks of India. This represents a 65 percent jump as against software exports revenue posted in the same period last year.
"It is purely a billing pattern. It varies from company to company. So going by the first six months revenue, an accelerated growth can be expected," said STPI, Director, BV Naidu.
According to him there are roughly 800 to 900 IT and BPO companies in Bangalore employing a workforce of 110,000 in the IT sector and 55,000 in the BPO sector.
In the past six months, 66 new companies have set up shops in Bangalore, out of which 44 are foreign equity companies. An investment of Rs 642 crore has been pumped in Bangalore by these foreign equity based companies.
