BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies announced the appointment of Ramesh Emani as President of the Embedded & Product Engineering (E&PE) Strategic Business Unit, effective October 01, 2003. Prior to this, Emani was serving as the Chief Executive of the same group. This was the last of several very successful leadership assignments across both the technology and the enterprise businesses of Wipro Technologies, spanning a career of over two decades.
Since February 2002, the E&PE group has grown profitably to over a $100 million business in a very tough time. A key contributor to this growth has been Ramesh’s strong focus on developing vertical/technology solutions. Ramesh leads a highly technical and talented team of over 2300 people in the embedded area – one of the largest talent bases in this space in the world. With a strong customer base covering many Fortune 500 companies, this group under Ramesh is poised to be a key contributor to the growth strategies of Wipro.
Ramesh is one of Wipro’s most valuable leaders with extensive global experience. He joined Wipro in 1983 as one of the core team members building Wipro Technologies’ software applications business and since then has been responsible for providing strategic leadership across several key positions/roles that he has held within the organization, including heading the telecom solutions business and serving as Chief Technology Officer.
Ramesh was also a key driver in setting up the Knowledge Management and many innovation initiatives, strengthening the foundation for the creation of Intellectual Property at Wipro.
