NEW DELHI: Microsoft Corp plans to focus on the growing Business Intelligence (BI) solutions market in a big way. Estimated to be a $ 32 million to $35 million market in India by 2005, Microsoft believes that the BI market in the country is just about to explode because of the increasing deployment of information database, maturity in IT deployment within organizations and the fast maturing services industry.
According to the company, the immediate tasks before itself is to build awareness about the tools, the implications it has in business applications, build close contacts with the customers, etc. Microsoft has partnerships with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and TCS to reach its targeted set of customers. The company is currently focusing on the BFSI, manufacturing and retail segment.
Commenting on the initiative, Microsoft Corp (India) group marketing manager Sanjiv Mathur said, "A combination of factors including growing customer needs, maturing of the services industry, decline in implementation costs and increased business process automation make this the right time for us to increase our focus on business intelligence."
