CIOL:Wipro to set up open source CoE

BANGALORE: Wipro Limited, in alliance with Ingres Corporation will develop open source business solutions by opening a dedicated Center of Excellence and practice in its Bangalore facilities.

As per the strategic alliance open source business solutions would be developed on the Ingres platform. Both the companies plan to undertake joint go-to-market activities worldwide.

“We identify Ingres as a leader in the open source database space, and this alliance combines Wipro’s system integration expertise with Ingres’s open and robust database offering. Deploying proven enterprise open source is another channel that CIOs can use to lower costs without sacrificing service levels, and we see great opportunity to showcase this in our Open Source Center of Excellence using Ingres,” said Girish Paranjpe, president (Financial Services), Wipro Technologies.

“Wipro has a well defined strategy on open source, covering aspects of contribution to open source community, development of customer solutions and internal adoption,” said Divakaran Mangalath, CTO, Wipro Technologies.

Ingres and Wipro will work together to introduce reliable open source offerings to customers worldwide. Wipro’s Ingres open source practice will also focus on the Indian market.
