BANGALORE: Software services major, Infosys Technologies plans to be around 2400 strong in the union territory of Chandigarh. As an immediate recruitment drive the company will be adding 600 employees to its existing 150 at its Mohali center.
"Infosys has acquired about 20 acres in the up coming software technology park in Chandigarh. It is building its own campus and would have a capacity of 2400 people," said Vivek Atray, Director Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration.
The campus is expected to come up over the next 4 years. This is part of its global expansion plans of its development centers. In its recent quarterly results announcements, the company's president, CEO and MD, Nandan Nilekani had mentioned the company's expansion plan in Indian cities of Chennai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram among others.
The third largest software exporter in the country, Infosys also announced the launch of its development center in China with an initial investment of $5 million. It had also recruited the highest number of people during a quarter when it added 3,000 employees for its last quarter ended September 30, 2003.
