We have significant growth in high performance markets, as well as in high volume, cost-sensitive markets. We are continuously expanding our reach into new markets and applications, and with that strategy; we should be able to continue to grow 2x the semiconductor market's CAGR.
CIOL: Altera has facing different challenges and competitions in its major markets. What are your advantages? Is Altera inspired by success of its products and how does Altera's success influence its future R&D roadmap? JD: Altera continues to benefit from the increased adoption of programmable logic by more customers in more applications as development costs of alternative technologies such as ASIC and ASSP continue to rise. Altera's advantage in the programmable logic market is our focus and track record on operational excellence, product leadership and customer relationships. We create products with significant customer input, work closely with customers and share their business and technical vision, and have an organization and a methodology that delivers the right products at the right time.
Going forward, we intend to use this advantage to respond even quicker to market requirements with new products, tools and IP that will meet the needs of our customers.
CIOL: What is Altera's strategy and plan in Taiwan, Asia and worldwide in terms of technology, strategy, product advantages and branding? JD: Altera's foundry partner, TSMC is in Taiwan and our partnership has been a cornerstone of our success in the market. We've had a fantastic track record rolling out the latest process nodes such as 90nm and 65nm smoothly and flawlessly. We will continue to do so at 45nm.
Taiwan also represents a strategic market for us because of the increasing importance of ODMs in the definition and creation of products. Their insight into end markets, and inputs into our product definition is key to both our low cost, high volume strategy and our high-end strategy. In the past, FPGAs were used primarily for high-density, high-performance applications. However, when Altera created the low-cost FPGA market with the introduction of Cyclone FPGAs, and the consumer product market in Taiwan became a primary focus for us.
