Microsoft recently forayed into Hosted ERP in India with a model that has proved its importance with regard to IT adoption for businesses, especially among the SMBs.
Microsoft Dynamics covers a line of financial, customer relationship and supply chain management (SCM) solutions that help businesses work more effectively. Delivered through a network of channel partners providing specialized services, these integrated, adaptable business management solutions help streamline processes across an entire business with the familiar Microsoft software.
Talking to CIOL, Sushant Dwivedy, Business Group Lead for Microsoft Business Solutions, Microsoft India, elaborated on the hosted ERP model and its advantages to the SMBs.
"Microsoft's Dynamics suite of ERP solutions will be available as an Internet/subscription based hosted application for businesses in the country and will provide secure, enterprise grade ERP solutions with quick and easy deployment on a pay-per-use basis, without the need for high up-front technology, software and implementation costs. It also eliminates operational, management and administration costs, and safeguards against technology changes and obsolescence," says Dwivedy.
"The Micsrosoft Dynamics Suite has been there for over two years. With the hosted ERP model, we have switched over to offering subscription-based solution to our customers," he adds.
Why hosted services?
The hosted model of IT is another paradigm shift in an industry. It has historically been defined by a series of periodic, transformative shifts in the way people think about computing. Microsoft views this as a great opportunity to bring together the worlds of client/server software and Web-based services, says Dwivedy.
Customers, especially the SMB segment, have evinced keen interest in this ERP model, which is available at per month pricing, he adds.
Bangalore-based Affordable Business Solutions has associated with Microsoft Dynamics to bring the hosted, subscription-based ERP model to India.
Srikanth Rao, Founder-Director of Affordable Business Solutions says, "While the hosted ERP application has all the functionalities available as in the traditional on-site model of deployment, customers can opt to subscribe to the specific functionalities that they need at the moment and expand the subscription to others when they are ready."
