GR: The size of the global semiconductor market was about $260 billion in 2006. Gartner expects that the semiconductor market will grow 6.5 percent during 2007.

 

 

GR: The key growth drivers are the domestic demand for electronics, favorable government policies/climate for conducting manufacturing operations including taxation, labor laws, etc. India is pretty much there with the rest in both the aspects.

 

 

GR: Any slowdown in the global semiconductor market will not have much effect on India right now from the point of view of investments in semiconductor manufacturing. Companies that have made investment announcements in India after the announcement of the semicon policy would have probably factored for any slowdown or otherwise in 2007, while putting down their proposals.
