BANGALORE: Analog Devices today announced the launch of ADF4157, a new high frequency, fractional-N PLL synthesizer for applications requiring low phase noise and ultra-fine-tuning resolution. "ADI's PLL synthesizer portfolio now spans from 5-MHz to 8-GHz with more than five new PLLs released in the last year," said David Boylan, business director, RF Limerick, Analog Devices, Inc.

ADF4157 improves performance while reducing design cost and complexity in wireless infrastructure, satellite and radio systems. It operates up to 6-GHz using a power supply from 2.7 V to 3.3 V. The device can be powered down when not in use, resulting in overall system current reduction from 23 mA to 0.01 mA.

The ADF4157 consists of a low-noise digital phase-frequency detector (PFD), a precision high-voltage charge pump, a programmable reference divider, programmable charge pump currents and a 25-bit fixed-modulus fractional divider. ADF4157 is available in two package options: a 20-lead lead-frame chip-scale package (LFCSP) and a 16-lead thin-shrink small-outline package (TSSOP). It is priced at $3.21 per unit in quantities of 1,000.
