NEW DELHI: Intel premier partner, Computer Vision, is all set to launch its
brand of assembled notebooks by the month-end. The company will launch a
standard model with a Pentium-III 800 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 13.1 inch TFT
display, 20 GB HDD, CD-ROM drive, modem and TV output card.
The product will be priced at Rs 76,000 all inclusive. "At this price
and configuration, our product will be nearly 20 to 25 per cent cheaper than the
branded products that are available in the market", says Computer Vision
CEO Saket Kapur.
The product launch is an outcome of Intel’s build-to-order (BTO) notebook
program. Under the Intel BTO notebook program, Intel is enabling systems
integrators to assemble and build high quality notebooks that can be customized
to meet the customer’s individual mobile computing needs.
"We are looking at a modest sale of three to five notebooks per partner
per month," says Kapur. He is confident that this number will rise to 10
within a year. While the initial marketing efforts will remain confined to its
captive clientele, Computer Vision will take the product beyond Delhi soon.
