Compaq has new line of desktops, PCs

HOUSTON: Compaq Computer Corporation on Monday said it is releasing a new line of desktop and portable personal computers, projectors and monitors that will incorporate features designed to simplify business enterprise computing.



In a statement, the world's biggest supplier of computing systems said the new line will use the latest Intel Corp. processors, and be lighter and easier to service and upgrade.



The products include the company's Deskpro EN desktop, available now in North America and worldwide by mid-July; Armada M700/M300/E500 notebooks, available worldwide in mid-July, with models incorporating Windows 2000/Windows NT 4.0 available in August; and the MP1400 and MP1800 Microportable Projectors. Shares of Compaq closed at 27-1/2 Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
