PLEASANTON: Business-to-business software firm Commerce One Inc. on Thursday
said in a conference call that it expects third-quarter 2001 revenues to be flat
compared with the second quarter.
Commerce One also said it expects to break even in terms of earnings in the
second quarter of 2002.
The company, which makes software that powers online marketplaces, said
earlier on Thursday that excluding charges, it lost $70.2 million, or 31 cents a
share in the second quarter, compared with a loss of $16.2 million, or 10 cents
a share in 2000.
One-time items include acquisition-related costs, interest, taxes,
amortization of technology agreement, stock compensation and intangible assets,
and other nonrecurring charges.
Analysts, on average, expected Commerce One to report a loss of 21 cents a
share, with expectations for the loss ranging from 30 cents a share to 6 cents a
share.
Revenues were up 61 percent year over year to $101.3 million from $62.7
million, compared with analysts' revised consensus of $111.9 million, according
to First Call.
