CHENNAI: Indo-American software services supplier Cognizant Technology
Solutions Corp said on Monday it had bagged a major outsourcing contract from US
data storage systems maker Network Appliance.
The Teaneck, New Jersey-based company, which does a major part of its
software development from facilities in the Chennai, said in a statement it had
been selected by Network Appliance to manage the company's core data warehouse.
Cognizant did not, however, provide any financial details of the
"long-term application outsourcing" deal.
"The pace of blue-chip companies seeking long-term strategic partners
for large-scale outsourcing services is accelerating," the statement quoted
chairman and CEO Kumar Mahadeva as saying.
In February, Cognizant, which provides custom software services for
multinational companies from support centers in India, reported forth-quarter
net earnings of $4.6 million, or 23 cents a share, verus $5.4 million, or 27
cents a share, a year ago.
