BANGALORE: Citicorp Information Technology Industries (Citil) has put on show a Web-TV banking module using Java technology that works on a TV using a set-top box. This application connects through an Internet service provider for Internet banking transactions.

Multiple devices such as PCs, hand-held devices or mobile phones for banking can use the same application, written in Java, over the Net. Citil has also announced its authorized Java training centre for financial services, to be established in association with Sun Microsystems.

Citil is the third authorized Java centre for Sun Microsystems in India. Citil's Java Centre of Excellence (CoE) team comprises architects, designers and developers and many of them are Sun-certified Java professionals. That number is expected to grow to 100 by end-2000. Citil's Java CoE has already developed high-end Java libraries that have been certified as 100 per cent pure Java. The alliance provides Citil with before-the-market knowledge on emerging technologies and standards.
