Cisco expands SMB networking portfolio

BANGALORE, INDIA: Cisco, recently announced the addition of energy-efficient switches to its  Cisco Small Business Series of networking solution.

The company is also launching a Web-based Small Business University, where partners can find all the tools and training materials necessary to develop a successful small business practice, and offers partners complimentary design support via Small Business Support Communities to help them create and deploy the best solutions to solve their customers’ unique business problems.

New technologies include:

* Easy-to-Install Switches: The Cisco 100 Series Switches are a new series of energy-efficient, unmanaged switches that provide wire-speed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for small business offices, simply and affordably.

* Cisco ESW 500 Series Switches: The Cisco ESW500 Series Switches are fixed-configuration managed Ethernet switches that provide wire-speed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity along with embedded security, quality-of-service (QoS), and Power over Ethernet (PoE) features. A part of the Cisco Small Business Pro Series, these switches provide the network foundation for a complete data, voice, video, and wireless networking solution for small businesses as well as easily integrate with the Cisco Smart Business Communications System.

* Support for advanced network security for protection of sensitive business and customer information

* Simplified network configuration with choice of easy-to-use embedded device manager or Cisco Configuration Assistant.

Secure Internet, wireless, site-to-site, and remote access with a firewall and optional IPS, email and web security capabilities so small business can feel confident their business is protected.
