BANGALORE, INDIA: Gangs of Wasseypur has been released today in India, and the cast and crew have every reason to be happy as the movie has received rave reviews.
Gangs of Wasseypur is a Hindi crime film directed, co-written and produced by Anurag Kashyap about Coal mafia of Dhanbad. The film features Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Richa Chadda in the lead roles.
The five hour 20 minute movie will be released in two parts. The second part of the movie will be released later this year.
''Bleeding brilliance in almost every frame, breathing fire through every available orifice that the characters possess, and whipping up a kind of frenzied, flamboyant bloodshed that was once associated with the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone and Sam Peckinpah, 'Gangs of Wasseypur' is, briefly, one huge gang-bang,'' said one such review.
However, a problem not new to the film industry has surfaced. Pirated versions of the movie have already surfaced on several websites. Piracy is called the 'cancer' of film industry.
There are websites offering free download links of the movie as well. But one should not go about clicking these links as they are generally known invite the Trojan Virus.
The quality of the pirated version has been reported to be bad, and is apparently shot using a video camera inside a theater.
Even though it is unfortunate that movies are being pirated in this manner, Why do people prefer to watch bad quality 'cam rips' rather than watching the movie in theaters? Please do let us know your views.
